Let’s Start!

Outstanding Parents
InvitationCord,VeilThe Bride And GroomBest Man & maid Of HonorChristian & Marjorie

What a way to celebrate the milestone in the life of my cousin Manong Baak and Manang Celing. 50 years of blessed union and were able to survive the trials of life and enjoy the fruit of their labor. To add more sweeteners in this nicely flavored occasion, they were honored as the Outstanding Parents of Balungao as proclaimed by DECS ( Department Of Education Culture and Sport) complete with plaque of appreciation. This was given to them during the Town Plaza Christmas Celebration last December 23, 2007. Congratulation Manong and Manang, you are really an ideal parent and had left us a legacy very hard to duplicate.

To their Children, Marilyn, Edgar (deceased), Nelson, Maribeth you all deserved to be congratulated for all the effort that you had done to make this celebration a very successful event. A successful parent cannot be so without their equally successful son and daughter’s. My hat is off to all of you guys and may your marriage also celebrate event like this in the years to come.

Going back, arriving in our town about 5 A.M (we left Manila at about 12:30 A.M.) have made me and my family dizzy for a while so we have to take a short nap to be able to recharge (together with Paulino-Tan family). Taking our breakfast we tried to tale a tour of the lawn and see for our selves of what things to come or to expect.

The Church:

The ceremony was celebrated in Ilokano, our native dialect (which my children failed to understand). The symbolic and serene atmosphere in the Philippine Independent Church, helped make this event as memorable as it should be save for some minor comedy of error created by my cousin Manong Baak. Manong, on his meeting his Bride way mid the center aisle had hold and put his arms around her arms instead of the other way around. He said he is so excited when I reminded him about it, while on their walk back from the altar after the ceremony. Then when their group picture were being taken, it is Nelson’s (the Son) turn to do the same to his wife. I had to approached them and remind them also.

Of course we also have a “kodak ” moment together with my family, Tan’s family and all the other relatives that were present at that time.

Reception:

After every special occasion, eating time follows. Huge crowds of people have already gathered outside the gate of the reception (also the residential home) upon our arrival from the church. It makes me realize how well love these couples or this family are for if not, they would not have attract this multitude of well wishers all willing to participate in this momentous event.

Nelson And SylviaChristopher and KarenKitchenKitchen1Kitchen2Front Lawn

50 cases of soft drinks (50 x 24 bottles = 1,400 bottles), 5 big boars were butchered for the occasion, 1 big Lechon was received as gift. 28 Tables with 8 chairs each (seating 224 at one time) plus 300 (chairs) more can be accommodated in the right side of the lawn bringing it to serve at least 524 people in one setting. 3 cavans ( Sacks) of rice were cooked. The guest who partake those sumptuous dinner must have reached more than a thousand in my modest estimate. The number of kitchen staff with uniform I have failed to count must have worked 24 hours to be able to come up and feed this multitude of people. Oh! I am very sorry for I have failed to get the name of the caterer who does a very splendid job.

Highlights:

The cutting of the ribbon by the married couple at the gate of the Domingo residence and the Main entrance door done by Mr. & Mrs. Tamaki was a sight to behold.

The wedding tradition of drinking champaign and cutting of the cake was very lovable to watch as they make it a four-way affair with the participation of their married children namely Marilyn and Hakaru, Nelson and Sylvia, Maribeth and Jude.

The chosen 25 partner’s who are lucky enough to have exchange partner and dance with the Groom and Bride.

Dguzman Band provided the live entertainment part complete with 4 sexy and lovely dancers. The sound system was handled by Pintes mobile and sound system. Host of the night event were charming and witty Ms Dominga Domingo and Armin Castillo. Together they trace the events how this two couple met and fell in love with one another. I am really very happy that I become a witness to this event that to my mind would be very hard to break or even to equal. Of course attending family gatherings like this one entails a lot of memory recalling, (names) past events being told of you. My daughter was surprise that even people coming from the United States know and re-told one funny incident in his young life (she is about 2 years of age by then).

I would to write more happy moments here but for now, I really need to take my much-needed rest and Sleep.

But before I forget, Let me great you all a Prosperous New year!

But wait before I forget:

It’s Not Easy Being a Santa Claus

Tuesday, December 25th, 2007

Santas get sneezed upon up to ten times a day, fend off children pulling their beards and mop up after children who frequently wet their laps, according to the survey of hundreds of men who work as seasonal Santa Claus characters.90% of Santa’s said that children pull their beard every day to see if it’s real. Santa’s are sneezed or coughed on. They can suffer back strain from lifting and exposure to contagious illness. And that Santa suit can get awfully warm.

But just ask any Santa if they find the job rewarding…they will tell you that without a doubt, it’s the most satisfying time they spend during the whole year.

It takes a special quality to be a Santa. Do you think you would have what it takes?

Noche Buena

Tuesday, December 25th, 2007

Clock

Last night, just like all Christmas night we would eat our Noche Buena together.

My youngest daughter felt sleepy and wanted to take a nap while awaiting her other sibling. It is only about 10:00 P.M., I know that kids sleeping at this time and waking them up after only a few hours of sleep is insanity.

Mae my eldest daughter suggested we do what we have done before - adjusting the time to make it Noche Buena time.

Now I remember, it was Christmas of 1998 and I was in San Jose Mindoro. The first time I experience to be alone while working and away from my family. That was nine years ago (9). That year, come December school break, they followed me there for a vacation. That would make my oldest child to be at the age of 13.

Sleepy Child

Before:
We are in the same predicament, the time is 10:00 P.M. and all kids wanted to take a nap for they are bored at all the shows on television. I suggested to my wife that we eat already and forget about “Noche Buena” time so that we all could sleep soundly. I always treasure the moment we are together as a family. But my wife isn’t approving saying the spirit of Christmas will be gone.

I ask for their wristwatches and our wall clock, have it adjusted to 11:55 P.M. so all our timepiece is synchronized. “Now you all have 5 minutes to feel the spirit of Christmas”, I told them. I only did it as a joke but they like the idea.

As we eat, discussion turns livelier as they suggested other things that we could also adjust. We were so engrossed in our happy banter when I happened to notice our Wall clock -1:55 A.M.- the real Noche Buena time.

As what I always told my kids, it is all in our state of mind. Our happiness depends on oneself. We could choose the life we want. Life is what we make it.

Now!

Oh! We didn’t adjust the clock but we did the old fashion way.

I might be wrong in raising my kids, but then every time they remind me of my crazy things that I have done for them – It is really worth re-telling!

Believe me!

Merry Christmas

2nd Monthsary

Birthday Cake

Sorry, I wrote this yesterday but failed to publish due to very limited time left before I reported for work plus the fact that my smartphone data got corrupted. I can’t edit this anymore because arriving home tonight from work had given me only a few hour before Christmas eve. Kindly read on!

Wow, see how time flies. Just two days before Christmas and a Month after posting this Monthsary article.

Many are confuse what “Monthsary” mean? Just heard this word from two teenaged boys discussing their monthsary with their girlfriend. Got curious and ask my son what does it mean? It is coined word coming “Month” + “Anniversary”, an Anniversary measured by number of month. Whew! Filipinos are really creative fellow. Maybe someday this would be included in Wikepedia.

Hey, urban dictionary have it!

For two months now, I have known more friends and were able to find a lot of informative website.

I have added Sitemeter This gave me data on a lot of matter such as the daily volume of traffic this site receives and from what country it is coming from. It also gave forecast of traffic you would have and a whole lot more. Just visit the site if you have time.

I have also joined a lot of community network where I believe could help me reach out to more people and have more friends.

It is really true that education is a continuous process of learning only if you long for it. And just for the sake of fun, I would make this a tradition, comparing my previous month data with this month. (Note: Only the figures are change)

This Month:

Now looking at the statistic it says 36 posts, 106 comments under 7 categories. Since joining last 10/27/07 at Mybloglog.com I was able to know 25 community members. Since joining blogcave.com last 11/4/07, I got 45 friends, 193 votes and 2,165 visitors. Technorati.com gave me a ranking of 415,686. Alexa.com ranking of 737,442

Last Month:

Now looking at the statistic it says 24 posts, 45 comments under 7 categories. Since joining last 10/27/07 at Mybloglog.com I was able to know 10 community members. Since joining blogcave.com last 11/4/07, I got 34 friends, 100 votes and 1,154 visitors. Technorati.com gave me a ranking of 1,391,575. Alexa.com ranking of 3,426,669.

If this would turn you off, I am very sorry. I am being me and small things that would make me happy, will be printed in this site.

Before I forget, let me greet you “Merry Christmas to one and all and Happy New Year Too“!

Married Life

Thursday, December 20th, 2007

Weddingwedding ringWedding parapernalia
Evelyn, my wife is my childhood sweetheart. We became “on” 9 years before we got married in a simple solemn wedding ceremony at the Sta. Cruz Church chapel. Half of those 9 years were spent quarreling with one another and broke-up 3 times. Our Choir member sang on that “fateful” day. The memorable date was July 10, 1984 meaning 23 years of married life. That would give us 32 years of being together.
Before:
The first time she tried at handling the kitchen (after our wedding) produce a disastrous effect. The kettle literally exploded sending it up in the air creating loud thundering sound. The kettle dried up while boiling the water creating a vapor inside. It can never be used again but for other purpose such as watering the plants.

She got mad and hurt when the Chicken “Tinola” that she proudly presented to me can’t be eaten because it was halfway full of oil (chicken fat and too much cooking oil). I could not forget her questioning look why the “Daing na Bangus” she prepared and cook didn’t have a taste (She forgot to add salt). So for us not to starve to death, I do the cooking. We would go to market to every weekend to stock up on our food for the week.
Now:
That was before, now she can whip up Chinese and Filipino dishes with ease. Including spaghetti, Siomai and different soup. Her specialty is Lumping Shanghai and Chopsuey. Oh! Her fried chicken taste and look likes you ordered from Jollibee.

Rewind:

Thinking back in the old days what we have gone through, a lot of trials and hardship especially when the kids started coming, makes me wonder how was I able to manage. The time when I single handedly provide for our everyday life necessity, school tuition fee of children (She have to resigned from her Job because Mae needs her for her Chinese Lessons) filling up bills coupled by long hospitalization of Melvin. Providing them home and paying for the residential lot had given me so much pressure that I had to take other sideline as Real State salesman (As Branch Manager, I was able to sell a few residential lots and House and lot), Tupperware dealer (became a Branch Manager in 1 months time), Life Insurance dealer and Cellular phone dealer (Here I got a lot of commission). Those were the days my friend!

The Challenge:

We nearly broke up and separated for her wrong suspicion that I am womanizing. This is a part of my life worth retelling. My womanizing Boss has a very strict and a guerrilla like wife that I have to cover his tract. Every employee would know they had a quarrel the night before because he would be wearing a shade (to cover his blackened eye) and a Long sleeve Shirt (Scratches from fingernail can be found al over his body. Maybe this is another case of battered husband). Then I find my Boss explaining to my wife what really is happening. He felt sorry for me and made the move by himself.

We patched up things and live happily ever after. The only storm that tried to break our union.

Now, my eldest daughter graduated last year from College and is now working. My second child is taking up Nursing and on her 3rd year. My 3rd Child is taking up Marine Transportation and now on his 2nd year. Another child is on his 2nd year of High school education and my youngest in on her 5th grade.

Marriage had many faces and many form. Some says it is like playing a Russian roulette that you just don’t know when it would end. I would say that getting into the Sanctity of Marriage is like making a Movie. You are the Producer, Lead Actor, Casting Director, Light man, Camera man, Sound Man, Editor, Clapper and Head Writer rolled into one. There is also take two, take three and so on depending on your belief and conviction. God holds the remote control that when HE decides to view it, be sure to give your best shot. Make HIM the center of your Union and you could never go wrong.
A picture-framed gift titled “Ten Rules Of A Happy Marriage” was broken and destroyed 5 years ago. I was able to find a replacement last week, and if you want to know the content of this rules, just give me your email and I will gladly give you a copy as soon as I can.

Emergency

JollibeeCR
