Masama at mabuti itong huling nangyari.

May naiwang sugat.

Trabaho lamang at walang personalan”.

“I shall pass this way but one, any good that I can do or any kindness that I can show, let me do it now, for I shall never pass this way again”.

Hehehehe!

Smile and the whole world smile with you, cry and you cry alone.

Boto niyo na lang ako:

Good Luck

Mask

Yesterday was a sad day for me and this newly hired personnel of ours. This fellow had been working in our sister company for the past three months and was assigned under me only this month of May for further training.

As I had said before, I had trained a lot of Store Supervisor and sales personnel and many of them are now handling their own Branches. I can tell instantly by casually talking to my personnel what characters they have. Perhaps, my long exposure of dealing with different kind of people made me acquire and learn those skills.

My initial analysis during our get-to-know-you conversation is that he got character. He seems to know everything and looks boastful at times. True enough this observation showed up.

He is a married man of four years and has a three year old child.

That morning I already prepared some manuals for his next phase of training and casually asked one question regarding our code of conduct. His reply made me fall of my chair. He told me something I would never allow in my almost 20 years of training personnel. Our conversation turned to worse when he insisted that maybe I made a mistake in telling him. I know when I commit a mistake and I acknowledge it but I also know when I start a fight, I would never back out.

This fellow had an attitude of not admitting mistake. He also has the tendency to create his own company policy. I was told of one incident by our regular staff how he was taught how to check stocks for transfer to other branch. Despite telling him the SOP (standard operating procedure), he still insisted in doing his own way.

Going back to the story, despite reminding him of what I told him word for word, he still insisted that I made a mistake in telling him and not the other way around — that he made a mistake in understanding my statement. This made me flare up in anger for he just made me a liar.

So, to cut the story short, I prepared a written report for both of us to sign of what transpired during our conversation. I gave him time to read it and understand it. After a couple of minutes, he returned to me and told me he will just resign and would not sign the report.

This is a perfect example of too much pride and not owning a mistake.

So I just nod my head and told him “Good luck”.

“Abangan ang susunod na kabanata.”

But wait before I forget:

Busy

Saturday, May 24th, 2008

Sorry Friends I have failed to update this site for the past 4 days. The reason is I have been very busy with my Sales Field work. And beside that, the friend of my daughter had borrowed my CPU for these past three weeks.

My children are using our other Computer at the moment. Their schedule of using it is every Friday and Saturday unless they would need this for school projects.

I am dropping this simple note and bye for now.

Fare Increase Deferred(Temporarily)

Tuesday, May 20th, 2008

I woke up yesterday morning with a newscast from different t.v. station that LTFRB had approved the provisional fare increase of public transport. It would take effect on Wednesday May 21, 2008.

Fare increases are:

P0.50 for Jeppneys - which would make the minimum fare P8.00

P1.00 for ordinary bus - which would make the minimum fare P9.00.

P1.50 for aircon bus - which would make the minimum fare P11.50.

When I arrive home from work the news that came out was that it was put on hold on the order of DOTC secretary.

I feel a sigh of relief because this fare increase would make a big dent on our budget. My children will surely ask for their additional allowance

But at the same time I feel sorry for those operators and drivers of this group of public transportation. This irresponsible government official acted like giving a candy to a child then would take them back later.

Now what?

Of course these concerned transport groups are all planning to hold a nationwide strike this month of June.

Our life here in this country is really like a telenovela -“Abangan ang susunod na kabanata”( Watch out for the next episode).

Latest update: President Gloria Arroyo ordered the implementation of provisional public transport fare effective May 21,2008. That is today.

In the Central and Southern Luzon provinces, ordinary buses were allowed to add 10 centavos per kilometer. Air-conditioned buses could raise fares by 25 centavos per kilometer.

But moderate transport group on Tuesday said that it is not ruling out a transport strike despite the order.”Abangan uli ang susunod na kabanata”

Parent Woes

Monday, May 19th, 2008

My sister called me up last week asking for the phone number of one of our relative? She intend to call them and if possible to borrow money. Her daughter is presently studying in La Salle and as the usual problem for parent like us is where to get the money for tuition fee. This is another example how hard nowadays to support our children in their pursuit of education.

Wow how time really flies. My 2nd eldest daughter barely finished her summer classes and that cost us P 17,000.00 and here we are thinking again where to get the tuition fee for her and the other college student. She is now on her 4th year Nursing and the other as 3rd year Marine Transportation student. My other children needs small amount of money for they are now in public schools.

Since my income didn’t double up as fast as my family grew (and as fast as the rising prices of everything) I have made many adjustment.

All my four children finished their elementary education in private schools. The three of them even experience having school bus service. My 5th child had to graduate now in a public school.

It is a good thing that all my children understood and fully cooperated in every decisions or adjustment we made.

We made it a point to include them, our children in every family discussion and we let them speak their mind out. In that way the solution and cooperation is achieved best.

I bought two educational plans. One for my eldest daughter but before she finish using it in her studies, the company went bankrupt. My other plan is now only a sheet of paper, the money went down the drain.

Of course the transition from private to public is quite a heartbreaker for my youngest daughter. But thru the support of the entire family member it becomes easy.

It is also a blessing that my eldest daughter is already working and was a big help in contributing to our family expenses. If not for her I might find myself practically buried with debt.

It is our dream as parent to give our children the best education that they can have. But sometimes our best effort is not enough that is why many parents choose to work abroad. Other couples have to work both husband and wife leaving the children under the care of other people. I didn’t choose neither one of the above option.

For now, I do believe that my problem will be solved if I work for the government. I will make sure I know how much “tongpats” I make. Hehehehe! I am only joking though.

Ah! I just realize I have finished paying my SSS loan, got to get that loan application form now. Bye for now Buddies.
