May 1, Labor Day is celebrated in many countries around the world. This is also the time of year where the president of our country will make his/her “pogi points” speech. Any surprise package for the working class today?

Expect thousand of worker to join protest rallies and also expect the government forces to flex its muscle.

One interesting bill that is in the works is making the maternity leave benefit to 120 days from the usual 60 days allowance for normal delivery, miscarriage or spontaneous abortion or a 78 day allowance aid in case of caesarian section delivery. It shall be enjoyed only on the first four deliveries.

This early, a lot of negative reaction can be heard from the private companies as I watch this morning news. Let us wait and see to where this will lead us.

Anyway, this month of May is also the time of year for Santacruzan.The Santacruzan of today is a cross between a beauty pageant and a religious procession. Now the highest tribute that could be paid to a woman’s beauty is to be selected as Reina Elena. Find one in your locality and your enjoy the color and the happy experience your surely treasure.

This is also the month where people took a pilgrimage to Antipolo Church in Antipolo Rizal and the Our lady of Manaog Church in Manaog Pangasinan. Both churches, as they say are Miraculous.
