Promises are made to be broken as they say.

As parents it is important for us to keep our word of honor to our children. I always try to do my best to fulfill whatever promises I made to them. If there are times that I knew I couldn’t possible do a certain thing or act on a matter- I would honestly tell them.

I have promise my youngest Daughter to buy her different colors of headband. Maybe she thought I was only joking because I told this to her in jest while we were having a dinner. After eating our supper she gave me a list of different colors that she wanted. I keep it in my bag for almost 3 weeks and today I was able to buy six of them. I have been to busy with my work.

I once told them a story about commitment and committed. The mother Hen had a commitment to give the farmer an egg. But the farmer must wait when the mother hen could lay her egg. The pig had committed to give the farmer a ham so he gave his hind leg. This story had awaken their senses that if they, or anybody in the family failed to deliver as promise- they would just say these magic word –“Commitment and committed”. I do believe that this simple story had somehow built the character of my children to always be honest to other people and to always keep their word or honor.
