All you can do is support them in whatever they choose to do with their life, whether you agree with it or not. As to being a "... responsible, productive, and God Fearing citizen..." Why would you wish that your children live in fear? Productive and responsible I'll give you, but let them be so on their own terms and without having to be coerced and threatened into it by fear of something which you believe (and have no doubt indoctrinated them to believe also). Using such coercion belittles them and may even restrict their potential. What you want your children to be is irrelevant, what they want to be is paramount.
